Frequently Asked Questions

What is Clean Up the Philippines Day?

Clean Up the Philippines Day (CUP Day) is a community-based nationwide volunteer clean up drive held under the banner of the international Clean Up the World Weekend and World Cleanup 2012 Project.

Who manages Clean Up the Philippines Day?

Clean Up the Philippines Day is managed and coordinated by Clean Up the Philippines Movement, Inc. The people behind the Movement are 100% volunteers.  They do this for the love of country and the environment.

How do I participate on Clean Up the Philippines Day?

You have two (2) ways to participate.  First, you can organize and register your own independent volunteer clean up activity.  Second, you can join other volunteer’s clean up drive.

Do you have a specific clean up site where I can participate?

All clean up events are independently and separately organized by different volunteer groups a.k.a. our clean up heroes.  Click here to see registered clean up events under the banner of the campaign.

Can I register any type of clean up drives?

Yes. All forms and types of clean ups are appreciated.  Whether you are conducting a coastal clean up, air clean up (e.g. anti-smoke belching campaign) or land-based clean up, you are very much welcome to join our quest for a cleaner and healthier Philippines!

Do you provide financial or in-kind support to organizing teams?

Clean Up the Philippines Movement, Inc. is a volunteer non-profit, non-government environmental organization.  We are unable to provide financial or in-kind support to volunteers.  However, we can provide facilitation assistance and advice on how to organize your team and clean up events.

I want to help the campaign, what can I do?

This sounds funny, but we do not accept financial donations.  The reason behind this is that we want to prove that volunteerism and the “Bayanihan Spirit” are still very much alive in us Filipinos, especially for a worthy and noble cause such as this.  We only accept in-kind donations or services for the campaign.  Please click here to see what you can do to help the campaign.

If I organize an event, do I receive a certificate?

Yes.  We will send you an electronic certificate of participation.

Can I use the Clean Up the Philippines logo to promote my registered event?

Yes.  Volunteers of the campaign can use the Clean Up the Philippines logo on their websites, banners, posters and other promotional items for the purpose of identifying their events with the national and global campaigns. However, we do not allow the logo to be used in fund raising activities.  If you will use the Clean Up the Philippines logo on a merchandize, be sure it is not for sale and is given for free to your volunteers.

What will happen if it rains on the day?

Our concern is your safety.  If you feel that it is appropriate to postpone your event due to inclement weather, please do so.  It is your responsibility to inform your participants on the postponement of your activity.  It is also important to inform us of the new date of your activity for record and reporting purposes.

Can I organize a clean up event outside of the CUP Day date?

Yes.  If you can’t participate on the actual CUP Day, you can register your activity at any date throughout the year.  As our Chairman said, “Cleaning is not just done in one day...let’s make every day a clean up the Philippines day!”

Do we need to submit an after activity report?

Yes, we require the submission of an after activity report.  The reports will be collated and submitted to our international partners.
